The OM1224 Pushbutton Panel provides a flexible and cost-effective alternative to expensive hard-wired pushbuttons. The panel features 24 user-legendable pushbuttons arranged in three rows of eight buttons. Each of the buttons can be individually configured to operate as either a momentary or alternate action pushbutton.

Buttons can be custom labeled by the user with the plastic insert. The insert can be custom legended with text and/or graphics, and slipped into a protective pocket behind the faceplate.

The OM1224 Pushbutton Panel is part of Optimation's OptiMate® series. Each OptiMate® module is designed to connect to a microprocessor or most PLC's with a single cable connection. OptiMate® modules can be used individually or together with any combination of other OptiMate® modules.

When used with a microprocessor system, simple communications over either an RS232 or RS422 communications cable allows the microprocessor to directly read the state of each button.

When used with a PLC, operation is transparent to the user. All the user must do to retrieve button status is to read PLC registers. The OM1224 takes care of the rest.

  • Independently configurable for momentary or alternate action mode
  • User-Legendable
  • Stand alone capability with direct connection to most PLCs
  • Compatible with any computer via serial communications
  • Mix and match with other OptiMate® modules

Benefits top of page

  • Saves valuable I/O rack space
  • Eliminates the need for controller I/O modules for operator panel use
  • Reduces system integration and retrofit costs
  • Removes and replaces maintainability
  • Rapid future expansion
  • Reduced maintenance costs

Direct Connect to PLCs top of page

OptiMate® modules connect and operate directly with most major PLCs. A simple cable connection allows the PLC to access each button directly simply by reading bits in data registers. Everything else is totally transparent.

PLC Multi-Modules top of page

The OptiMate® series provides the means to construct large custom panels with standard building- block modules. OptiMate® modules can be grouped together or separated by up to 4000 feet. Any combination of operator panels and I/O can be incorporated into a system.

Microprocessor-Based Systems top of page

OptiMate® modules connect to any computer or microprocessor-based system through a serial link. Either RS232 or RS422 communications can be employed. The microprocessor controller simply polls for module data or sends module commands to completely control the operator panels and IO.

Legending the Buttons top of page

Legending the OM1224 module involves simply sliding a legend transparency in a pocket in the module overlay. The bezel can be removed from the front of the module. Once this is done, a legend transparency can be placed in the pocket in the overlay (between the surface layer and the white backing).

A legend transparency can be created by a number of methods. Computer graphics programs combined with overhead transparency paper and a laser printer and/or copier produce excellent results. Other options are listed in the OM1224 data sheet.
