OptiMate® OM1312
Setpoint/Display Panel
The OM1312 Setpoint/Display provides 12 numeric
fields which can be used for either setpoint entry or data display.
The 12 user-legendable field points are grouped as three sets of
four. Each group of four points is associated with one four-digit
numeric display. The SELECT button allows user selection of the
required data to display. For setpoints, the arrow buttons allow
value adjustment. Setpoints are retained even when power is off.
Setpoints
(display points) can be custom labeled by the user with a plastic
insert. The insert can be custom legended with text and/or graphics,
and slipped into a protective pocket behind the faceplate.
The
OM1312 Setpoint/Display Panel is part of Optimation's OptiMate® series.
Each OptiMate® module is designed to connect to a microprocessor
or most PLC's with a single cable connection. OptiMate® modules
can be used individually or together with any combination of other
OptiMate® modules.
When used with a microprocessor system, simple
communications over either an RS232 or RS422 communications cable
allows the microprocessor to directly read setpoints and write
display values.
When used with a PLC, operation is transparent
to the user. All the user must do to read a setpoint (or output
a display value) is to read (write) PLC registers. The OM1312
takes care of the rest.
Features
- 12 independent field points
- Independently configurable for display
or adjustable setpoint
- Non-volatile storage of setpoints
- User-Legendable
- Stand alone capability with direct connection
to most PLCs
- Inset LED indicators to identify field
point currently being displayed
- Compatible with any computer via serial
communications
- Mix and match with other OptiMate® modules
Benefits
- Saves valuable I/O rack space
- Eliminates the need for controller I/O
modules for operator panel use
- Reduces system integration and retrofit
costs
- Removes and replaces maintainability
- Rapid future expansion
- Attractive, eye-appealing appearance
Direct Connect to PLCs
OptiMate® modules connect and operate directly
with most major PLCs. A simple cable connection allows the PLC
to control each lamp directly simply by setting bits in data registers.
Everything else is totally transparent.
PLC Multi-Modules
The OptiMate® series provides the means
to construct large custom panels with standard building block modules.
OptiMate® modules can be grouped together or separated by up
to 4000 feet. Any combination of operator panels and I/O can be
incorporated into a system.
Microprocessor-Based Systems
OptiMate® modules connect to any computer
or microprocessor-based system through a serial link. Either RS232
or RS422 communications can be employed. The microprocessor controller
simply polls for module data or sends module commands to completely
control the operator panels and IO.
Legending the Buttons
Legending the OM1312 module involves simply
sliding a legend transparency into the three pockets in the panel
overlay. The bezel can be removed from the front of the module.
Once this is done, legend transparencies can be placed behind the
overlay.
A legend transparency can be created by a number
of methods. Computer graphics programs combined with overhead transparency
paper and a laser printer and/or copier produce excellent results.
Other options are listed in the OM1312 data sheet.
